Introduction to Sporting Rifle Shooting
This is an experience aimed at people who would like to learn the principles of rifle shooting. No prior experience is necessary. This is held on a 1 to 1 basis with an experience qualified instructor. All equipment and ammunition will be provided.
The experience will run for half a day. You will start by having a safety brief and demonstration on the principles of safe rifle handling. After this you will then spend time on the range with your tutor shooting up to a distance of 100m.
- You will start off by shooting a 22lr bolt action rifle, then move to a .223 centrefire and finish up with shooting a 6.5 centrefire rifle.
- You will be taught how to safely load and carry a rifle and about the differences in ammunition and their uses.
- You will be taught the fundamentals of good shooting, the importance of breathing and how this results in good accuracy.
- There will be the opportunity to try out different equipment like bipods and shooting sticks
You have to be over 18 and not be prohibited under the Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 from handling firearms to attend this course.
